Quo Vadis? – Leadership and Organisation

Today’s organizations of the social and health economy are increasingly under pressure. They are subject to constant changes in the legal framework (e.g. social legislation, health care reforms), have to prove themselves in constantly changing competitive relationships and at the same time react to social instabilities. Providers of social personal services are more than ever under pressure not only to be effective in achieving their objectives but also to be as efficient as possible in terms of performance, with other words to use human and financial resources at their disposal economically.

In this context, leadership is a dazzling term and theoretically and practically not so easy to pin down. Anyone who deals with leadership from a scientific point of view has to reflect on three discourses and their contradictions: the scientific discourse, the discourse of practice and the socio-cultural discourse.
